The Marie Dosonier Nature Preserve, a 491 acre wooded area with a diversity of vegetation, and habitats typical of Appalachian Ohio is under 5 miles away.

Strouds Run, Forked Run and Blennerhasset (WV) State Parks are all located within a 20 minute drive of Hocking Escape.   Burr Oak State Park (31mi), Lake  Hope State Park(49mi) and Hocking Hills State Park(57mi) are all a bit longer of the drive but well worth the trip.  The parks offer a variety of outdoor activities and programs. 

The cottage is also located in the middle of the 3 divisions of Wayne National Forest which offers many programs and exhibits.  The forest also contains over 300 miles of all purpose trails.
