GONE FISHIN

You only need to walk into the back yard to drop a line in the Hocking while you sip your morning coffee or after dinner beer.  But the tri-county area (Athens, Washington, Meigs) in Southeast Ohio has literally hundreds of prime spots on its lakes, rivers and streams.

The area state parks all have fishing and some of them have boat rental as well as boat ramps.  You will need to make sure you have a valid Ohio Fishing License for most of these spots, and don't forget to bring your fishing gear.

WHERE TO FISH

-Basic Gear

-Fishing with kids

Bait and tackle are available at the Cool Spot, a general store and restaurant in downtown Coolville near the Coolville Public Fishing Ramp or Postons Carry Out, which also sells Ohio Fishing Licenses, 7 miles up the road in Stewart.  Bait is also available in most carry outs and gas stations near fishing spots and at the State Parks.

You can also take a trip down the Hocking River on a Canoe, Raft or Kayak.  The Hocking Hills Canoe Livery is just a short drive away in historic Rempel's Grove (Logan, OH).
